    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming means using IC informations obtained OOC, that are not available to the character, usually to take an advantage within the game.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergame means doing something possible using mechanic in game, but impossible and irrealistic for the rp.

This was the first city Ghyunes found since she left her village, everything was so new and beautiful, but also scary. She wasn't used to all these people and she didn’t want to get into troubles. Anyway, it was almost night and she needed a place to rest so she started slowly approaching him.
Ghyunes carefully replied to the man: “Thank you Sir, I’m just passing through, but maybe you can help me. Where can I stay for the night?”. The man answered: “It’s right there, on the left. But you look scared little elf! Why are you so scared? I'm the great merchant Shoruk, if you want I could show you the bazaar! Here you can find everything you want: gold, diamonds, fine clothes and every tipe of spices.”. But Ghyunes really just wanted to find a place to rest. So she quickly thanked the man and gave him a coin. The merchant asked again for her name, but she was already gone.
