    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming in roleplay, it’s important to respect your character’s limitations and avoid making them unrealistically overpowered. Always phrase your actions as attempts, allowing others the chance to respond and interact. Avoid god-moding, where your character is invincible or can do anything without consequence. By staying within the rules of the world and collaborating with others, you help create a more balanced and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. For example, Aelarion easily defeats the dragon with a single sword strike, instantly killing it. To avoid that, Aelarion swings his sword at the dragon, aiming for its underbelly, hoping to land a critical hit."

    The second example gives room for the dragon to react and keeps the action more balanced.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by using out-of-character knowledge in-character, giving unfair advantages. It breaks immersion, creates forced plot outcomes, and harms the overall roleplaying experience for everyone involved. Example: If Player A knows a character plans to betray them from an OOC chat and attacks that character preemptively, they’re metagaming by using information their character wouldn't know.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Aelarion steps into the dimly lit tent, his purple eyes scanning the room with quiet curiosity before resting on the hag. He bows his head slightly, his voice calm yet firm, "I seek knowledge, old one. There are dark forces at work in my homeland, and I have come to find answers to stop them." His gaze sharpens as he meets her eyes, "You knew I would come. So tell me, what do you know of the shadows that threaten us all?"
