In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: In a fantasy setting, to me, PG is an incredibly broad plethora of things. Unrealistic characters will of course perform many unrealistic feats, and people far too often over-estimate their character's competence when subjective concepts like magic or superhuman strength come into play. Without proper communication, it feels unavoidable; what I do to avoid this is rooted more in my mentality, than in my in-game emotes or actions.
    I don't roleplay to 'win'.

Often times, I'll 'power down' my character, thoroughly roleplaying their mistakes, blind spots in battle, and oversights all in the interest of fairness and giving the other parties I'm roleplaying with something to base and further their next actions with.
I keep in mind, I'm not a brick wall. I'm a character of average intelligence and average strength (when compared to many other characters in the setting).
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: MG is unfair in its nature. Not only does it do nothing to further the ongoing storylines; when information is gathered OOC instead of being investigated IC, but hurts most those who are being metagamed.
Take for example a cloak and dagger criminal operating undercover within one of the Kingdoms, being discovered and sentenced after a discord screenshot resurfaced of them speaking about their identity. Not only does the discovery come sudden and unavoidable to the cloak and dagger character (due to the lack of investigative roleplay done, with no IC rumor-trail that'd have the potential to warn the character they're going to be discovered), it also cuts a strong IC storyline short through OOC means.

This is unfair, unrewarding, and not organic in the slightest. Even small meta infractions can become a chain reaction unfolding into IC storylines that 'gut' one's enjoyment of a character.
No matter what happens, all information that isn't clarified to be widely known IC, should be obtained through IC means.

Character Name: Funnehbone Lup'Oklash
Character Race: Orc
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 34
Physical Description: Jingling bells adorn this Uruk, giving his presence away even quicker than his bulky 6’7” stature; wearing a tattered jester suit.
Blind in one eye.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Amber hues trace every detail of the hag's face, though the look on Funnehbone Lup'Oklash's face was not a focused one. Rather crazed, obsessive; darting back and forth between different details of magic within her domicile. The uruk bared his fangs, more so involuntarily, when she inquired about his story. It was one to be spoken in a deep, great tonation, thus he sat down and slouched his head to once again meet the hag's eyes.

"Latz nub skare mi, hummie female." Giggling ensued from his slouched form, akin to a hyena. "Mi iz Funnehbone Lup'Oklash, carrying duh name of muh parzha: Funnehbone Hozh'Grog'Oklash.

Duh jestur of Clan Oklash, mi beluped... Mi'z hailed duh mozt devoted of mi clan!" He thumped a fist against his chest, prompting the jingle of numerous jester bells decorating the uruk's outfit. "Mi who bringz cheer agh hozh timez tuh all my bruddaz agh muh kin!"

As one of the candles came close enough for its flame to reflect within his pupils, Funnehbone Lup'Oklash grabbed it and slammed the melting wax against his forehead, sticking the candle to his leathery skin like a rhino. And like a rhino, he growled out; "Hurrrgh...! Har har har... Mi will be duh greatest jestur, bettur den mi parzha und mi great parzha! Aftuh dey denied mi muh duel fur hiz title...

Sent me to diz land, like a nuizance tuh get rid of... Mi will pruv dem wrong! Lead duh Uruks thru duh buurzest of timez... Wit duh jingle of mi bellz and mi hozh jokez!" Proudly he spoke of his story and greatest ambition, the role of a jester was one clearly viewed as noble among those of his bloodline. Funnehbone Lup'Oklash was to become the greatest, funniest one of them all.

Finally prove to his ancestors, that he deserves a chance at seizing their fame and honour in a duel.
