Dustin was born at the bottom of a merchant's ship. His birth was of chaos, unease, and misery. Rain flooded the deck as the ship barreled across a narrow strait, entering the new land known as Atlas. His father was a mere cobbler, scrapping together the meager earnings they had to secure a small chamber on the migrating ships. They were filled with hope... what else did they have? Although Dustin knew Axios in the womb, he grew up primarily in Atlas. His family quickly found work with the Kingdom of Marna, taking up positions as lowly serfs to a landed knight of the Kingdom. The boy grew up knowing the toils of the land, reaping and sowing to the ever changing seasons.
Thus, the boy grew up strong. Though he could not read or write, his intellectual capacity was replaced by one of brute strength. So when the recruiting officers came by the farm, eagerly searching for new recruits, how could Dustin refuse? His mother died in childbirth to the 2nd sibling only a few years prior. His father turned more ill by the year. With no real future or inheritance waiting, Dustin kissed the book and joined the retinue of the Kingdom of Marna. As a fresh youth of eighteen, Dustin has much to learn. Perhaps his brawn won't make up for his brains. Dustin knows, however, his strong ambition and zest for life will triumph in the trials and wars to come.
