Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Elarin shuffles nerously, then steadies himself to speak. "Very well, then. My name is Elarin, pleasure to meet you. I have travelled far in hopes of starting a new life nearby with my partner Helda, though this terrain is quite off-putting. That's not to say I regret going, I've always pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone, just quite a bit slower than others might. I am quite inquisitive really, and very interested in knowledge, especially that of the arcane. It has caused some... tension back at home." He purple irises fall to the ground as his body slumps slightly "Though that is behind me now, I suppose. I used to adventure out on my own, until one day I got attacked in the forest. I am ashamed to say that I to this day do not know what attacked me, as I averted my gaze. Helda saved me, chased the thing away with shouts and weapons, and helped to patch me up." For the first time in this rant, Elarin smiles warmly "A while after that we started adventuring together, getting into plenty of trouble. Now she is usually the one to get wounded, and I do my best to heal her with what knowledge I have of medicine, and I provide ranged assistance using a bow where I'm able. After travelling for about five years now we've decided to settle down, focus on helping the next generation get through their trials and tribulations without losing their lives!" A look of remembrance, then embarrassment passes over his face "Speaking of which, that is why I'm here, to see if I could glean any knowledge of how to make potions, use magics or the like from you, especially types that can assist others in battle, as I have yet to learn these skills. Though that does remind me, you said you've been expecting me." His eyes sharpen and give off a slight gleam in the candlelight "Who are you, really? And what do you want of me?"
