Varis was born in New Malinor, and his older brother, Lumin. He lived with his family for years. He made many friends, and had a good education. But when he was 8 years old, the first of 52 raids occurred. His parents were murdered as he hid, by none other than Lumin! He found that Lumin had been working with the raiders, and he ran, bringing with him only a family heirloom, a dagger called "Ursa Minor". Eventually, after 2 years, he found the Kingdom of Renatus. There, he lived as a street urchin, with other 10 year old street kids. However, when he was 13 years old, the kids needed to steal for some food. They found out about a royal banquet, and decided it would be the perfect opportunity. One of the kids was opposed to the idea, and she betrayed them, reporting them to the guards. Varis managed to escape before the guards arrested him, but the other were arrested. He lived alone, hoping one day he could help them. He trained to be stealthy and lethal, and when he turned 32, he was ready. He snuck into the prisons, where he found that the kids had all been executed already. His failure to save them still haunts him. Now he hunts his brother, and his search takes him to Oren.

Varis doesn't trust this man, so he takes a quick observation of the surroundings. What can he use to his advantage should a fight ensue? Varis reaches for his dagger, and because he doesn't trust the man, Varis lies.
"I am just here to take in the sights. It's a lovely place"
Varis sucks at making up lies on his feet.
