    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Taking actions that would be unreasonable for your character to do because of a reason the player knows, not the character.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Making a character that is overpowered, making the validity of other character's in game accomplishments weaker.

Gus would look at the man skeptically, not liking the sudden attention. In a gravely voice he speaks.

 

"What's it to you? You're type ain't the ones to be approaching me, arn'tcha? Trying to steal my fish I'm guessing? You're probably one of those thieves that do it legally. I can tell it by your clothes. Screw off."

 

Gus walks around the gentlemen and takes his leave, looking for a stall that sells fish.
