In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Don’t do what your character can’t do, and don’t roleplay for someone. If someone is attempting to power game, call them out. If they disagree/continue to power game report them and call and admin, refusing to roleplay until an admin gets there.

An example of power gaming is as followed:
Reginald swung his hammer fast and swift, with enough force to blow past his foes shield as if it weren’t there! Splinters and chips of wood flew from the ruined shield, as the hammer soon after caved in his foes breastplate! This attack killed the other player.

Note: Reginald is a frail 18 year old elf.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It gives you information that they'd not know. So, if your character killed someone, and someone knows this OOC'ly but accuse you of murdering them and saying you did it, it ruins the continuity and mystery of the roleplay.

It’s also just boring for roleplay, as roleplay is meant to make a story much like a book. Trying to know everything unjustly is downright unfun.

Character Name: Gogrog Lognog
Character Race: Orc
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 35
Physical Description: Gogrog wears animal skin pelts, though shirtless. Standard skin of green, with orange hair. His eyes are a dulled black, and he's 7'7". He's 550lb.
Roleplay Scenario:

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"..." The solemn faced orc didn't even register what was said to him. He instead gestured to the old hag's bag, as he pointed to it. "Gogrog hungry! Feed Lognog, or he make do with human-meat." His surprisingly goblin-like nose twitched in frustration - Or was that hunger? Seems the green skin was a bit thin, not used to the swamp before him. "Salt meat preferred. Wine. Humans make good wine." With a thump he'd seat himself, not afeared of his situation.

When given the wine and food, he’d look towards it. Suspecting the hag to be some sort of witch, he’d bite into the food to make sure it wasn’t simply painted rocks. Once established to be edible, only then did Gogrog speak. “Me from… Far away land. I own dragon, though he not with Gogrog now. You must…” After clearly lying, he took a brief pause. With this pause he drank the wine given to him, though it was closer to inhaling than anything a normal person could muster. “You must bring more.” Gogrog took a large snap at the food given to him, as it vanished down is sickly gullet swiftly. “Wine! Now!”

unexpectedly, Gogrog Lognog *has* no story. All he could chalk up to his story would simply be him talking about how he's always running amiss from orc gang to orc gang, employed only due to his green skin by fellow patriotic kinsmen. Though often made fun of for his orange, fiery hair(which he views as unbecoming of an orc), he made do by being bigger than most of the other tuskers. Lognog the Log, they called him, for being as thick and dumb as one. Though he'd never admit this to a supposed hag!
