How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: its when you use outside information that you are not supposed to know in character - for example someone messaged you on discord that a character of someone you hold an out of character grudge against is sitting somewhere AFK and vulnerable but it's some place you would in-character normally never visit and very hard to find. Despite this, you use the hints given through discord to steer yourself there and confront this person. That would be an example of metagaming since you're motivated by an ooc grudge and use outside information (discord in this example) to locate your target.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: it's when you roleplay in a very unrealistic manner and overplay your characters strenght. For example if you were roleplaying a child you wouldn't be a capable combatant and if you started handling a large warhammer without effort despite being a weak kid and beating people to a pulp without any remorse for your actions then this would be considered unrealistic and a case of powergaming.
