How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: You can avoid powergaming by avoiding certainties in your words. ie; instead of "I take your sword," you can do something more akin to "I thrust my hand forward, attempting to grab ahold of your sheathed sword." Other instances of powergame would be considered performing actions that would be impossible for your character to physically or feasibly achieve, or simply describe another players action for them.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Utilizing inside or out-of-character knowledge disrupts roleplay, as it involves the use of information that your character has not legitimately acquired. This signifies an undefined boundary regarding the extent of your character's true knowledge. Not to mention, by using knowledge achieved this way it grants the individual in question unfair advantages over the other people they may be involved with..

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Example:
The swampy air clinging to his clothes as he traversed the narrow pathways between the shacks and cabins. The scent of rotted wood and damp moss seemed to penetrate his nostrils from every corner of this rather dim town. His eyes wandering, absorbing the sights, the eerie atmosphere that hung in the air reminiscent of a heavy fog. Seeking some kind of refuge from his musty and murky surroundings, his gaze settled upon a tattered tent aglow with the light of suspended candles.

One shock to the senses immediately to another, Diluc would find a shiver running down his spine; accompanied by what felt like anticipation. The old hag, the cause of this newfound feeling with her weathered face being illuminated by the flickering candles. She seemingly found herself raising her head at his entrance, her words hanging in the air laden with curiosity, before the realization had properly hit her.

She had been expecting him? That didn't seem possible, after all he was certain that he had only just met this woman. Squinting his eyes towards the woman with a sense of curiosity covering the young males face, he simply did as she wished. Finding the proper arrangements before sitting down as per her request. It wasn't the most comfortable of arrangements, though, this town itself wasn't either. A simple sigh would unleash from his mouth, the first audible form of recognition toward this scenario.

At first the words weren't coming to him, not being entirely sure what to say; but he figured that simply speaking would be better than leaving the woman entirely with silence, with the only noise coming from the nearby environment and flickering flames. Opening his mouth, the male began to speak in a rather slow manner. His voice being deeper than one might expect, containing hints of a vocal fry as he continued with his words.

"Well... Ma'am, I'm not quite sure what you want from this; but I'll do my best. Simply put, I've just lived a rather basic life without many woes or things of that sort. My father, mother, and sister are all alive and well; and have treated me better than I could have ever asked for. Quite honestly, I'm only here right now because a simple farm life wasn't something that suited me very well. I wanted adventure, to see the world, learn how to fight. I'm nothing special, really."

Ending his sentence he would scratch the back of his head, a light chuckle leaving his mouth as he wasn't really sure what to say or do next. His story wasn't exactly very spectacular, but that's something he hopes to fix. The young Diluc wanting nothing more than to one day have more to say, adventures to describe, but currently that's sadly all he can truly offer.

(Wasn't really sure how long this was supposed to be, so I just had fun with it.)
