Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Example:  

"So you're the hag I was sent to meet." he states, his voice serious and unemotional. He eyes the crone, then glances back towards the entrance of the tent, where his brother waits. He takes a moment to breathe and sit on the cushion across from the hag. He sits down rather formally, his knees between the cushion and his own rear. "My story, huh? Well, to start, I have a twin brother, rare I know. And yes, that does mean we are without a mother." His expression darkened a fair bit, how else would he feel? He lost his mother before he ever got to know her. "Our father tried his best to take care of us, but he was unwell. He was unable to take care of us, and we had to fend for ourselves like street rats."
He adjusted his cloak and fixed his tunic underneath as a way to fidget with something while telling his story. "We stole from many people to afford even the slightest luxury, such as clothes. And once we were old enough to properly fight, we became mercenaries." He looked the crone in the eye as he explained. "So we wander the world trying to find riches, so we can support ourselves. That's all you'll get out of me."
