Dorn Helder, born to a Heartlander father and a Farfolk mother, he spent much of his childhood moving with them from one small village to another as his parents found it difficult to make a living. This difficulty was amplified by his father's poor health which meant much of the time Dorn was expected to do whatever it took to help his family survive . His father passed away a humble fisherman who had aspirations for his son to one day become a sentinel for a king or nobility but Dorn found his father's dream nothing more than an unrealistic pipe-dream, looking at the rich as disgusting and disconnected from the reality of life.
His mother, now the sole influence on Dorn took it upon herself to teach him in many ways. She showed him both the practical skills he would need as man such as farming and mending of clothing but also thought it important to teach him how to play the social games needed to get along in life. She kept her personal history a secret from Dorn but gave him the gift of language. Over some years she taught him how to converse in a number of Elven dialects and although she said he may never have to use this skill she did seem to find it important that he develop this ability. Something he never knew was how she learnt these languages and unfortunately before he could she also passed due to disease.
"What does it matter and who cares?" are his motto. He believes that nothing really matters in the end. He lives his life as if there were nothing to be accountable for often choosing to side with good or evil because he doesn't care which wins and sometimes just finds it amusing to see the outcome. He speaks of feeling as if he lives his life floating above his body, he can see his actions, hears his words, but cares nothing for anything.
Having little meaningful ties to the world, Dorn has found himself ever more attracted to living a life that at times borders on the suicidal. The one quest he is constantly undertaking is that of uncovering the mystery of his mother's bloodline, the one she has with the elves. Dorn is constantly trying to understand and learn more about each tribe and has attempted to explore the Elven Districts of Caras Eldar. His hope is to find out if anyone knew his mother, and if so, how she came to being able to speak their language and know so much about their ways of life.
His latest ambition is to try and find out more about the land of Atlas. A mysterious land with little historical information outside of some recent whispers he has overheard in some of the darker and less clean taverns he enjoys watching others in. More specifically he wants to go to Caras Eldar as he has heard of a strange stone spire believed to be a remnant of a lost Elven civilization which may hold a key to understanding his family's past.
