You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"greetings, thank the heavens i found someone, this place looks desolate." He pauses as he gathers his thoughts, "I am Gaius Octavianus, I was born into a family of merchants and am carrying on that tradition, at least for now. My father, Lucius, died a couple of years ago and entrusted his business to me. I have more ambition than simply being a merchant for my whole life, but i feel an obligation to continue on the path me left for me. I am a highlander, but I have questions about my families ancestry, which i do not fully know. I grew up with my family in a small village right between the areas of highlander and heartlander influence, a perfect place to make money from trade. From a young age I was given tasks from my father related to our work, whether it was loading up shipments, keeping track of what goods were coming in and out of our little town, or tallying up the earnings for the day, I was always involved. My mother left for the city when I was younger, so I never really got to know her very well. This made it a lot more difficult when my father died. I felt lost, all I had was this job and what my father had taught me. Sure, It had taught me valuable skills, especially when it came to dealing with a variety of different peoples, but I still yearned to do more with my life. I guess not much has come of that ambition so far though," He awkwardly laughs. "Anyway, sorry if I told you too much, I was just meaning to take my shipment," He points outside to his cart, " to the next town over, but clearly I have gotten lost. How did you know to be expecting me? I've no clue where I am nor how i got here, but somehow you knew i was coming?"
