Malzubat is from the Grand Kingdom of Urguan where he grew up with his father (his mother disappeared when he was very young). He grew up with a close bond with his father though he was often busy and absent. His father ran a small apothecary which has often interested Malzubat. However his father always denied him when he asked if he could learn something about it. As he grew older doing basic work the fate of his mother nagged at him. Where had she gone? Was she still alive? What would happen if he found her? Malzubat eventually decided that he would not find her in the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and that he must journey beyond his hometown.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Malzubat studies the hag's face before taking a seat and saying, "You expected me? How would that be?" He pauses before saying, "To answer your question I come from the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and I hope to find my mother." He places his elbows upon the table, puts his head on his knuckles and he says, "Would you perhaps know something of her?"
