Loyalty, a trait praised amongst elves, is something Hilan doesn’t lack. He was born in Khazad'karrzark in Anthos, in a time when elven births were especially scarce, and his parents made sure he knew it; they treated him perhaps too kindly, and he grew to be arrogant. This was put to the test when he joined the military, however, and that arrogance was soon crushed from him, replaced by loyalty and inspired by fear. When he returned home- something that did not happen often- his parents found him to be changed, and not for the better. He was harsh, blindly obedient, and strict, taking the progressive snow elf ideals to an ironic extreme. The military training, a harsh difference from his childhood of praise, twisted Hilan into a cruel loyalist. In his later years, he’s become a recluse, doing his military duty with as little social interaction as possible. In his free time, he studies the other races of the world, especially other elves- something never settled right with him about the high elves. The more he learned about them- the independent nation of Haelun’or, their notions of supremacy, and their absolute hate for half-breeds- the more he came to despise them. He’s now under the pursuit of one goal: uproot the high elves. Ironically, his extreme progressiveness lead to the exact prejudice he hated.
