Vaine’s journey started in Renelia, where he lived for most of his life alongside 3 of his brothers. 
As how many of his childhood friends knew, Vaine was not the type of guy to stay around people, as he kept telling them to not get too close or attached to him, as he feared to hurt them without wanting to.
From a young age, he felt a really strong connection to knowledge, wanting to know more, getting stronger and stronger.. From this realization, he left Renelia at the age of 16, trying to find all the secrets of the world that he kept wondering about, making him not have any connections with his brothers or other people of his race.
His journey throughout the world was not as easy as he expected, having no experience of adventuring around the world.
But, during a small expedition to Sutica, he met someone of his own race, living the same way and seeking the same knowledge that he did. As Vaine started to get more and more attached to the unknown dark elf, he started to ask about his childhood, learning that he was abandoned by his family with only an armor and a sword, needing to live his life alone without anyone else by his side.
Vaine and his newly found friend started to look around the world, slowly learning of a lot more towns and mythical creatures that he never heard about, including the curse upon the Dark Elves that his parents never told him about.
But, while they both were wondering in a forest near Urguan, they both met up with a pack of wolves, easily being outnumbered by them. 
None of them knew what the wolves were doing there, but their alpha didn’t seem to be just some simple wolf,  resembling a breed of a Ker Wolf and Lur Wolf at the time.
Vaine seeing the Alpha male starting to growl at them, walking closer and closer to them, he would tell his friend to run.
As Vaine and his friend tried to run, Vaine would hear a scream from the other elf, seeing him getting slashed on the back by the alpha.
As he was seeing his friend on the ground, Vaine would throw a knige  at the alpha’s leg, making it get distracted and follow Vaine towards the center of the forest. Vaine seeing that he can barely outrun the wolf, he would use his climbing skills and climb on a tree, waiting for the wolf to pass him and lose him out of his sight. Vaine, seeing that the alpha lost his sight, he would start rushing towards where they got attacked, only to see his friend in a blood bath, barely breathing. Vaine seeing his only friend left dying right next to him, he would punch the ground, starting to cry and beg for him to stay more, to finish the journey they started together. 
With the Dark Elf’s last breaths, he would tell Vaine “Don’t worry... about me...” 
As Vaine would start holding him in his hands, he would hear one last whisper from his old friend, telling him to take his armor and to rush towards Renelia, where he will find something that he always looked for.
From this event happening to Vaine, he begged to never get attached to someone else and to only seek one thing... That being getting stronger and stronger, not allowing anyone else to die because of his stupidity.. Even if it would be considered unholy.
