Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Wait, you know me?" he says while taking a seat. "I'm a traveler from the distant mountains, and I've come to start a new life for myself, and to find friends to call my chosen clan. I haven't traveled before, so any guidance you might give me would be well received, and well compensated. And if you need any hard labor done, us Dwarves do not shy away from some effort and sweat. Now, wise maiden, do you have guidance for this lost soul?"

In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Like in D&D, you focus on "attempting" things, which allows for others to have input as well, rather than simply being forced to react to whatever you've written. Also, not a single character is (or ever should be) flawless. Flaws are the greatest part of stories!
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It is because you're essentially adding knowledge the character wouldn't know, to the character's actions. Like as if there's a mysterious killer, the detective just "knowing" because the detective's controller read about it on a wiki, then that would be a very miserable story. And Roleplay exists to tell GOOD stories.
