Khurdir was born in Kal’Varoth. His family wasn’t particularly rich or influential, but they got by just fine. His mother Eldeth Cragmaul was a cook, and Khurdir would spend time helping his mother gather ingredients for special meals from time to time. His father, Khurdorn Darkmane, was a butcher, and he would often take Khurdir out hunting. In his spare time, Khurdir enjoyed taking walks around the city and in the mountains or the forests nearby, but he had never been to another city or village before.

It was a simple life without any major events throughout his early childhood, until he turned 14 in the year 1724, when his father was suddenly sent off to fight the Orenian Empire in the Three-Month War. Saddened by this event, but also having gained a lot of extra spare time, Khurdir found peace of mind and joy in endlessly wandering around the city and chatting the ears off of almost everyone he came across.

One time, he strolled past the bank of Kal’Varoth, where he overheard conversations about trade-routes and riches that had until then been unknown to him (he barely understood what money was up to that moment). He gained a lot of interest in economics, and spent a lot of his spare time hanging around the bank and asking tons of annoying questions about economics and trade. At one point, the banker got sick of answering all of his questions, so he gave Khurdir a big set of books which contained a lot of information on trade and economics. Khurdir intensively studied the books that were given to him, and concluded that money can be a gateway to huge success in life, but also a risk for great failure.

When his father returned from the war, he had suffered various injuries and wouldn’t be able to work for a while. Luckily, the payment he’d received from serving in the army was enough for them to get by until he got back on his feet. During his recovery, Khurdorn saw the interest Khurdir had taken in economics and by the time he had fully recovered, Khurdorn was convinced his son would have a bright future of merchantry ahead of him, so he helped Khurdir get different kinds of jobs around the city.

As he matured, Khurdir worked largely as a freelancer, so his jobs differed from helping the blacksmith with a certain project, to helping out a farmer or a hunter with his task. It was at the age of 46 that he was asked to join a trade mission to the city of Aegrothund. This is what he’d been dreaming of since he was 14, and he immediately accepted. However, the reality of trade was a lot more difficult than Khurdir had read about and imagined. The journey was filled with obstacles, from broken bridges and tired horses to bandit attacks. Khurdir had held a battleaxe before, but wasn’t a fighter by any means, so it was a difficult experience for him. Upon arriving in Aegrothund, the trading company Khurdir had joined had difficulty selling their goods at full price, and were ultimately forced to sell them at quite a loss.

When they returned to Kal’Varoth, Khurdir was sad his dream was such a disappointment in reality, but the banker in Kal’Varoth reassured him that Khurdir had potential to do great things. After this, Khurdir spent the following three years of his life getting basic training in fighting with a battleaxe and a sword from his father who had experience from the Three-Month War (Khurdir still has a long way to go and still doesn’t like fighting necessarily, but he is capable of defending himself somewhat better than before), and joining different trade missions. It was during this time that he discovered that he absolutely loved going on adventures and bonding with people during a trade mission. On those missions, he also started worshipping Armakak of The Brathmordakin, the merchant father, learning his ways and aspiring to become someone that will enter the history books as one of the heroes of the dwarven race.

Having gathered more experience he finally decided to go on an adventure of his own, and at age 49, he decided to go explore the world, and he set off in pursuit of success, whether this would be in trade or whatever else might come on his path.

Ayo! Thanks for apply to Lord Of The Craft!

After taking a quick look over your application, your verdict has

been set to PENDING – meaning, you have a few changes

that need to be made in a 24 hour period before we can accept

you to our server.

Fairly easy things need fix – Simply, we ask that you have

two lore references within your characters biography. Sadly, the name

of a nation or city does not suffice. I suggest looking over the lore

provided on our wiki for things like notable events within Urguan or

in Aegrothond. Maybe a bit of history lore to spice things up? Regardless

it is up to you how you wish to apply a bit of more lore into

your biography.

Once you’ve made some changes, feel free to hit myself

or another Community Team Member up over the forums or over

discord. If you got any questions or concerns, we’re open to that

as well. My discord – frog#0483 – is always open to new players!

Anyways, Cheers!
