You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Sam eyes the hag and studies her face in turn before replying, "I'll admit, it isn't very long, or interesting in my eyes," He adjusts himself on the cushion, additionally taking off his gear, a bag slung over his back and two sheathed blades, to get comfortable before continuing, "but you must be interested in it to ask."
"Around 24 years ago, I was born into the Targoth family. We weren't very rich, but we were capable of feeding ourselves through the hunting all bowies could. Unlike the name, I never really took to archery, I preferred the feeling of steel in my hands," He says, gesturing to the two sheaths that now lay next to him rather than on his hip. One is noticeably shorter than the other. "I became good at using other tools than just my blades. You originally asked what brought me here" He grabbed at the bag and took a small torn portrait of a young Andunian woman, no older than he is now, and handed it to the hag. "I've been trying to track her down. My mother and father have passed, and on one of my father's last days, he handed me that photo, and said she might be able to help take me in, maybe give me work. I had heard she was in this area at some point, so that's why I'm here. It would seem I'm not in the right place yet." He pauses to briefly glance the room over again, ensuring his point made in silence was sent, adding, "After I get a night's rest, I'll be checking the rest of the town out, and then likely continue my way south."
Sam pauses a breath, before finally asking, "Do you know where I could get some bread or meat and clear water? I'm starving from my travels."
