    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is essentially using information that would not otherwise be available to your character within the context of the game. The rule book uses the example of organizing private messages with friends or skype calls.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It's a selfish style of playing which, in this context means imposing one's own goals onto the RPG format. The example used by the rulebook was: "(player 1) swings his sword and chops off (player 2)'s arm, instead of (player 1) swings his sword trying to

Cato hails from Willow Hollow, but now in the age of Arcas, he lives in a small halfling village near the Cloud Temple. He has always loved mystery and storytelling. It is his dream to go on a journey documenting mysterious places and creatures in his sketchbook, and one day opening a small museum/inn in the woods near Willow Hollow when he’s old. (Think like a Bigfoot museum). He loves to laugh, meet new people, and enjoy the smaller things in life, and of course, solving mysteries. He also loves to cook! Documenting new things in his sketchbook also means he wants to record new recipes for the inn section of his museum. He doesn’t love to fight, but will do so if necessary for his own defense and for the sake of others. Usually wields smaller swords or knives, all well as potions whose recipes he has learned. Also a good shot using a sling. Although he does not show devotion to any one god, Cato is very interested in the history behind Knox, the murderer disguised as the Pumpkin Lord. He finds these kinds of stories fascinating, and wishes to find information that expands the renowned tome “The History of Halflings” to more obscure places.

Physical Description: Cato is a young halfling (think like Frodo Baggins). Dark curly hair, and always carrying a short walking stick, and a signature green cloak.
Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
