Crasten Ireheart is a mixed blooded dwarf of cave and mountain dwarf heritage. He was born and raised at New Jornheim, to an unremarkable woodcutter/craftsman father and architect-guildmember mother. As a result of a sibling's tragic passing before his birth, Crasten grew up in a very sheltered environment, and was severely over protected by both of his parents. He'd taken up wood craft, as his father had wanted, along with mathematics, and architecture at request and insistence of his mother. During his extensive studies, the beardling had become learned and well educated, and was quickly on his way to becoming a fully fledged architect of his own.

Years would pass, and Crasten felt that he had become overburdened, and smothered by his parents' choices. He'd never made a true, major decision of his own for the first twenty years of his life, and despite that, he knew that this wasn't the life he was going to live. During his free time the beardling had taken to reading the lore of the dwarven clans, and found himself enthralled by the stories of his ancestors. Over the following weeks that passed, his parents would sense Crasten's gradual change in behavior, and notice him distancing himself. His mother had known about his fascination with the history of Aegis, and the way her son romanticized a lot of what he'd read. She was fearful that it was already too late.

To his parent's dismay, Crasten would prove his mother right, and profess to them both that he was leaving New Jornheim to see the world, and make a name of himself!

Though bittersweet, his parents understood, and ultimately supported his decision. The next few days he'd leave home with a large, knitted pack of essential traveling supplies, and make way toward his first major landmark: Kal'Tarak.
