How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you take things you learned out of character, on the forums for example, and take it in game to help your character. A good example of this would be to read about a magic on the forums, then make your character know about it in game.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is making your character stronger or faster than he can logicaly be, making him do things he should not be able to do, like jump down a building without breaking his legs. It can also be when you force emotes on other players, like killing them without giving them a chance to emote.

"Greetings kind human!"  Bralkur would reply.  I have come to your city in search of ingredients and rare recipes your chefs may have tucked away in their restraunts.  Could you lead me into the city and show me to the nearest tavern?  It is there I should likely find someone with such innate knowledge of the culinary arts."  Bralkur would state confidently.  The human would look at him with a confused look, motioning him through the massive gates.  The guardsmen across the walls would look down at Bralkur with unfamiliarity.  Why was an orc here to discuss cooking of all things?  Because thats who Bralkur is.  He's a chef by trade, and hopes to one day become a master chef.  "Thank you for leading me here.  I shall speak with the innkeeper next to see if he has anything good tucked away for someone with a bit of coin such as myself!  I don't have much but perhaps I could purchase some ingredients from him to get a start on my journey towards being the Grubgoth."  Bralkur would state as waved good'bye to the well dressed gentlemen.  It was his time now.  His journey.  He would be ready for all of it.
