You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
An inquisitive look crosses my face, "You were expecting me?" I take a glance around the room and take note of the many different vials and alchemical ingredients along side a shelf and drying rack, and catch a pungent almost mushroom like scent from a cauldron bubbling in the corner.
"I suppose that would make sense for a lady of your caliber." I duck under the hanging spices and take a seat on the cushion.
"My name is Leyamandrin Dragnora, and I suppose I seek to understand. I come from Haelun'or on a self imposed mission to learn all that I can about magic. I do not even know why. I feel like it is a calling that I must answer. I hope one day it will lead to good but for now I just wish to find a place to begin."
I take a break and look around the interior of the tent once more, trying to take in everything that I can, until my eyes stop, fixated on a small candle flame, and after a few moments I continue.
"My people, Mali'aheral, are often considered pompous and self important to many of the fellow races of the world. Even in my experience, I have bore witness to "Pure" elves treat fellow high elves lesser based on hair color, skin tone, eye color. I do not think it fair. We should use our abilities, gifts, knowledge, and understandings to aid the world should we not? Even if that means to help ourselves understand that we are not better than others. Only fools would place themselves on a pedestal so high, others will unite to watch us fall. We must elevate others to the same height we see ourselves, even if that means we must knock ourselves down to a lower level to begin and do so."
My gaze turns to the woman. "I seek to help others with magic, build a connection to other people, set an example of communication, compassion, and understanding. Can you help me in this endeavor?"
