You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Kilian leans back, straightening his body. He cautiously sits, not taking his dark eyes off the hag. “I’ve traveled here and there. I’m an adventurer at heart. On the search for a new quest.” Kilian grins at her. “I’m from the Commonwealth of Petra. I always knew I’d be a knight one day. At least that’s my hope.” Suddenly, his smile fades. “Mom and dad… they were great craftsmen. They really pushed me to work hard.” Finally, he breaks a sad smile at the memory of his late family. “Which is why I probably always got into trouble for skirting my duties so that I could explore the wilds surround the village.” Kilian closes his eyes briefly. “I practiced fighting with wooden swords. I even met strange folk. I developed an empathetic heart. A mistake. This empathy is met by my desire for justice. Which is also a result of… well, my parents. They were killed by a beast. That beast got away. It’s my duty to make things right. To protect those who can’t protect themselves. I suppose I still want to be a knight. But I almost prefer the independence of exploring the world — saving people.”
