Ewen Charroux's upbringing was defined by instability, and his attempts to cope with it. Fearing the rising tensions between the Daelish and Lucienists, his parents would flee their home during the Savoyard Succession Crisis. They took refuge in Oren where Ewen was born in SA 62. His family's wealth was greatly depleted after hastily leaving Savoy, but nonetheless they were able to afford Ewen an education, which he took seriously. Through rigorous study, he was able to learn the practical and mathematical applications of cartography. Unfortunately, Ewen's studies would gradually cut a divide between him and his parents. He later regretted never reaching out to them, as they both passed away due to illness as Ewen reached adulthood. Having been insulated from the world for most of his life, he often imagined exploring the lands he had spent so much time reading about. Ewen had lived his whole life in one place, and only his books revealed to him the vastness of the world. However, he was always reluctant to leave behind his parents, who had sacrificed so much for him. After they passed, he found it increasingly painful to remain at home.
With little reason to stay, Ewen departed from Oren, with the faint call of riches and wonder echoing in his thoughts.
Ewen turns to face the gentleman, but does not return the smile. "Work, actually. I'm in search of a sponsor for a certain project of mine. Might I ask for your name, monsieur?" He produces a small notebook and pen from one of his shirt pockets.
