In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming stands for the use of information gained through OOC methods such as the community's forums or a private discord server inside an IC environment. For example, you could be told by your OOC friends in the private Discord server that they found robbers coming to kill you, but your character wouldn't have any means to know this except if he learned it in character from someone that they knew.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Power gaming stands for the use of unrealistic or too powerful actions for your character to perform in roleplay. Powergaming also stands for forcing those actions upon other players, especially in combat scenarios. For example, if an arrow was being shot at a power gamer in character they would likely emote that they either grabbed the arrow while it was flying towards them or dodged it using a backflip. Both actions are extremely difficult to successfully perform at a speed that exceeds the arrow's velocity.

Thomas Port was born in a small village belonging to the Holy Oren Empire. He was raised to a family of poor farmers living as serfs to a local landlord. Thomas spent the majority of his childhood as a farmhand, assisting the village's farmers with various tasks such as planting seeds, plowing land and feeding animals. The child Thomas also became an apprentice to the village's smith to which he helped to produce tools for the peasants living in the village. Thomas grew up in a religious community which was true to the Church of the Canon, and as a result Thomas became a rather zealous believer, considering the Church's doctrine to be the only one true faith and dismissing all other religions.

As Thomas grew in age, his parents began assigning him larger tasks such as carrying carts to nearby cities and giving them to the city's merchants, then returning with the payment. However, traveling the roads of the Empire can often be a hazardous as bandits roam the country, raid and pillage serfs and villages, and kill without remorse. Not once Thomas found himself surronded by those bands which would often extort him for what little money and goods he had for safe passage on the road. Some bandits would also beat him up just because it entertained them and the poor peasant was unable to defend himself.

Therefore, Thomas grew a deep dislike for peasants, but also for life in the village which he consdiered dangerous and unproductive. He therefore traveled to a larger city where he hopes to become an apprentice to one of the craftsmen and make some wealth for himself.
