You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Sylvie was cautious of where she stepped. The swampy town had mud everywhere. She held up the end of her dress in order to keep the dirt off of the pristine material. However, her sandals were caked with mud, and internally, she cringed. The rotten aroma had wafted towards her, causing her nose to crinkle. Why would she be sent out into a town so dark and grim such as this one? Surely she wasn't in the right location.

After approaching a tattered tent, Sylvie pushed the flaps of the entrance to the side and stepped inside. She was met with a dark environment with the light of floating candles being the only source of visibility. Upon hearing an old and raspy voice, the girl jumped out of her skin and her eyes grew wide. Her heart was beating out of her chest as the old hag brought herself into the light. 

"Hello..."

Weary of her surroundings, Sylvie had approached the small cushion that sat across from the woman. She bundled up the end of her teal gown before taking a seat, crossing her legs properly. Spilling her life story to a random stranger was a bit nerve-wracking, so she kept it minimal.

"Well, there's not much to know about me. My name is Sylvie Rowenys, and I am a high elf from the city of Fi'andria. I am an aspiring student, seeking to increase my abilities. However, I don't believe I am in the right town. I was sent here seeking an older woman who could help me expand my powers but-..."

The girl was interrupted as the old hag held out her palm, a purple orb emitting from her hand with a magical aura flying around it. Sylvie's eyes widened, doing the same with her hand. However, her orb was yellow, less dim in light, and did not have quite as near aura emitting from it.

She was just now putting the puzzle pieces together. She wasn't the brightest individual.

"Oh! You are the one who will help me!"

The old hag chuckled at the girl's slow thoughts. Then, a smirk formed across her face.

"You have a lot to learn, child. Where shall we begin?"
