Clide joined the circus as a boy. He was a great acrobat and was lightning fast on his feet. The circus called him the black lightning due to his tanned body. One day when he was practicing his performance, his rival chided him to do a triple backflip. He hated the man, as his family was from Oren, who Santegia helped to kill. He attempted it, but sadly he failed, he broke his ankle, and it could not be fixed. All his friends turned on him and he was forced to leave the Circus. He went to join the Santegian guard force so that he could make a living and get strong. He hopes to prove himself not only in battle, but in glory to prove to himself that he is much more than a circus boy.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
