    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is using outside knowledge that your character could not know to benefit your character.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is doing things that affect other players, but not giving them any time to respond, such as saying "I kill player" opposed to "I attempt to kill player".

I respond happily, saying "Just here to get away from my family, and to explore some places I've never been". Then I would say under my breath "and I'm looking for someone". He would then look up and extend his hand to the well-dressed mystery man "I'm Jack by the way, you?". A moment would pass before Jack realized the man wasn't responding "Um...you don't have to tell me if you don't want to, I was just trying to be polite" he said nervously.
