Edward was born in the city of Helena to a merchant family. His mother was a silk trader, and she provided most of the income for the family. His father on the other hand was a bard, singing for the tavern and collecting just enough gold to pay for their food. His family lived in the slums of the city, not owning much besides minor trinkets and their rat-infested building. He was an only child, finding most of his company with the local orphans. Edward was taught to be a good and kind man as he grew up, giving his spare gold to the poor out of duty and obligation. However, as the family resided in the city, they became more and more desperate. This led Edward down a dark path of greed and lust for wealth. He would often work extra hours at their stall to help get extra funds to move out of the city, but he’d also pickpocket the nobility in his time not working. He accumulated very little wealth, but this remained his main source of income for most of his adolescence. Although he was street smart, Edward lacked the true skill to become a fulltime thief; he knew that the profession wouldn’t last, leading him to a path of desperation. After years of doing thievery, he was the ripe age of 16 years old and tired of the city of Helena. Edward loved his family, but he knew that he could achieve nothing in this rathole of a city. He grabbed all of the family’s income and quickly darted out of the household, running from the gates towards the nation of Haense. However, on his way to the Kingdom, he met a traveller along the way by the name of Maderza. The man looked at Edward’s desperation and decided to take him in as a ward. Edward accepted the man’s guidance and has followed him along Arcas in search of wealth and glory. Their merchant company was very successful for a while, but Edward once again felt obligated to achieve something greater. He left the man and seeks wealth as a spice merchant.

Edward would gaze at the city in reverence, ignoring the man at first. After a few seconds however, he turned to the merchant as he bluntly states “Wealth friend.” He’d approach the stall and inspect the goods at the stall, picking up an apples as he tosses it around. He’d grant a smirk to the man, placing the apple down as he withdrew some coin, knowing that he is getting the item for dirt cheap. Once he purchased it, he’d turn away from the stall and walk towards the city, his adventure awaiting him.
