Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Irethiel hesitated, her eyes darting from the flickering candlelight to the weathered face of the hag. The air within the tent felt heavier than the swamp itself. She adjusted her cloak, her movements cautious yet deliberate, and stepped forward.
“My story?” she echoed softly, her voice steady but tinged with unease. She sank onto the cushion as though the weight of the hag’s words had drawn her down. For a moment, she was silent, her gaze cast toward the dancing flames above, each one a tiny specter of light in the gloom.
“I was born at the edge of two worlds - human and elf,” she began, her tone growing distant. “But neither side welcomed me. The humans called me unnatural; the elves called me unworthy. My mother-” Her voice faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered. “She tried to shield me from scorn, but even she couldn’t protect me from what lay ahead."
Irethiel drew her cloak tighter around her shoulders, as if bracing against a chill memory.
Her gaze snapped back to the hag, piercing yet vulnerable. “Since then, I’ve wandered, seeking purpose, and perhaps... a land more welcoming than Haelun'or. If I cannot find that, then I hope to at least find peace and quiet.”
She paused, her hands tightening into fists at her sides. “You say you’ve been expecting me. If that’s true, then tell me - do you see what I cannot? Can you help me make sense of this... path I tread?”
/ooc: I'm uploading a skin from the archive for now, but will likely make a custom one tomorrow! Idk if I can post a comment on this later, so adding this note here :>
