In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Allowing knowledge the player has but their character doesn't to affect the RP. Can be obvious, but can also be subtle "coincidences", like "accidentally" stumbling upon a secret meeting only mentioned OOC or in a language the character doesn't speak.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Actions a character (or their ally) benefits from but shouldn't be able to do. For example, controlling other players with instant or excessively powerful actions. Even in co-operative RP, powergaming breaks the immersion and causes power creep.

Fiona was born as the fourth of six children to Perry and Gladwyn Greenmound, a pair of farmers in the outskirts of Dunshire of Atlas. Ever since learning to read at the tender age of ten she has had an infatuation with words and playing with them. With her parents’ unquestioning support and encouragement – even though they considered themselves too simple to understand just how good her poetry was – she decided she would one day be a great poet, traveling around the world’s great cities and uniting all races in enjoyment of wonderful verbal art.

There was just one problem: Her poems were not actually good. In fact, they were bad. Really bad. While she had developed an extensive vocabulary relative to her age, she also possessed a non-existent sense of poetic meter, created contrived rhymes and used ill-advised metaphors. Probably the only reason she didn’t get booed off the stage at any Dunshire event she performed at was her youth. There were some halflings who took a bizarre, probably ironic liking to her works, though they were few and far between. Any negative feedback that reached her parents’ ears was relayed to Fiona in the form of claims that others just didn’t understand her genius, and as a result she did not believe what she heard first-hand either.

After the Blizzard and the settlement of Brandybrook in Arcas, what little popularity Fiona enjoyed diminished as she got older and the halfling kind had more important things such as rebuilding on mind. Now, at the age of 30, Fiona is ready to begin her journey, seeking the fame she feels destined to reach. She has decided to travel under the pen name of Wordwright, considering it much more appropriate for her.

Character Name: Fiona Wordwright

Roleplay Scenario: The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

Example: (delete this when you add your own)

"Oh, I just, uh…" The traveler stutters, tensing up. They eye the crone, then back outside the shack. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…
