Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Frowning, Chimp stares at the old hag for a moment seemingly trying to interpret any expression on her face. "Apologies. May I know who you are first?", Chimp said while scrutinizing the cushion and looking around for any abnormality around and inside the tent, his voice soft and calm, but carries the quiet tension of someone always alert. Finally sitting down on the cushion, He glances at the candle-suspended tent ceiling, then back to the hag. “My stories are... not of much importance—long nights of hiding, surviving, watching from the dark. Then, following the wind as usual has led me here." Chimp said.

"You claim to have been expecting me. Which seems you know the story better than I do… so please—do instead tell me your story. I will listen.” He leans back slightly but keeping his eyes on the hag and ready to rise if anything at all feels strange.

Backstory

Born in a caravan of Farfolk traders traveling with the wind, Chimp grew up among peaceful quiet traders and wanderers. One cold, moonless night raiders struck his home, he watched from the shadows as his parents and everyone he grew up with were slain and the settlement burned. Clad in dark leather and a hood drawn low, he slipped away unseen following wherever the wind leads, clutching only an amulet that the whole caravan had gifted him on his birthday and a vow to one day seek vengeance.

For years he stalked their leader through ruined keeps, forgotten border-forts, and marsh-shrouded passageways. He moved silent as the mist, blending in with his beloved shadows, surviving on what the wilds provided. Ultimately, after tracking down the raiders' camp, Sunny struck each one of the raiders swiftly from the shadow; the amulet glowed faintly as he felt the lives of his foes left their bodies.

With vengeance complete, he laid the amulet on his parents’ and the caravan members' hearthstones and marked the end of his personal vengeance.

Now freed from retribution’s grip, Sunny lives for survival and protection. He guides caravans through dangerous lands, and rescues lost wanderers from perilous terrain—all while relying on the art of disappearing into the shadow, reading the wind, and always moving undetected. Years of working in shady areas while tracking down the raiders have made him very observant and aware, but also made it very difficult for him to trust anyone. However, in the deepest of his heart, he wishes that one day he can find a place he can call home, and be with people he can trust again.
