Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
He pauses for a second, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead as he takes in the strange atmosphere. With a small, crooked smile, he sits down on the cushion, his gaze never leaving the old woman’s eyes.
“Well, señora, I guess word travels fast around here,” he says, his voice calm but laced with curiosity. “Name’s Leclerc. I’m just passing through—at least, that’s what I told myself. But it seems like this town’s got its own plans for me.”
He leans forward, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret. “People like us, we never just end up somewhere by chance, right? So, here I am. Maybe you can tell me why.”
