Born to a poor family near the land of Arcas, Lin went to bed hungry often. From a young age taught the value of hard work as they helped their father work whatever odd jobs they could find. Their father being a follower of the Red Faith, hard work and dedication were a virtue they had been taught since a very young age. When not working, Lin was often scavenging, hunting, doing whatever they could to try and put food on the plates of those he loved. When Lin was only 6 their baby sister was born into the world, and while it was a gift the family was happy for, it also meant they would all have to work even harder, find even more to provide with. It was a few years later that Lin stumbled upon what he thought would be a turn of the families luck. 
It was certainly a change in luck. A turn for the worse. 

While pilfering through the forest to find something to eat, Lin found a small box buried recklessly beneath a tree, and inside was fine jewelry, money, and pure gold. Lin had no idea who had left a box like that, but it was irrelevant. They scampered home and showed their father and mother the riches discovered. The family rejoiced. 

Later in that night, having tracked the young scavenger, the young thief, down, a group of bandits came. Lin was awoken by the sound of the door being kicked in, and rushed to their feet only to be easily knocked unconscious. Waking up hours later, Lin was packed into the back of a small cart, his entire family fleeing from their burning home. Too heartbroken to stay in that area, the family fled, and wanting to protect Lin, their family sent them away, knowing the Bandits would be searching for the one who stole their stash. Becoming a stowaway on a merchant ship Lin was happy to get far away from their childhood home, away from those hunting them, but sad to leave their family alone. Stuck on the ship for weeks, Lin finally looked upon the beautiful shores, arriving in Almaris.
