Elgon, born in the city of Markev in 1679, was raised in the slums. Growing up he had to beg or steal for any of his food. Elgon never knew his last name or his family other than his brothers he made in the slums. By the age of 18, Elgon had been in more street fights than all of his brothers combined. He was known well by the guards because he was always getting into trouble. Knowing that he didn't want to live the rest of his life as a beggar, he decided he would attempt to join the military. He trained himself for 3 years to the best of his abilities. On his 21 birthday he pack what few items he had and set off to join the ranks of the military hoping to make a name and a better life for himself.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
