Layton was born in the lesser part of the Empire's capital city, Providence.. He was the last of 4 children. His family was on the move, his father was promising to excel in diplomacy and perhaps take office within the government. Layton spent his days learning sword play, studying strategies and tactics, etiquette and how to please everyone with his words. He even got a small time job as a clerk.Layton was the smallest and sickliest of the litter. One night, when he was 11 a fire broke out, engulfing the family home. Layton was the only survivor simply because he followed the family dog outside. One moment he was chasing the pet, and seconds after his family... his everything was gone. After the tragic death of his family, the crown compensated the young man and offered patronage, alas he did not accept. Instead he took the money and traveled the realm, learning everything he could about war of the old times, etiquette, diplomacy and matters of the state. He traveled to Haense, then to Norland but finally found his way home. And now he's back within the capital
Layton would lightly dip his head towards the approaching man, his eyes filled with wonder as he beholds the glory of the city, and man's stature. He patiently waits for the man to conclude his speech, and dips his head once more afterwards, moving a step closer towards the man as he starts to speak in a confident, lively tone. "I came because that is what I do. I travel, I learn and then I utilize. I have no grand aspirations as of the moment simply because I'm not fully aware what this city has to offer, but I'll make sure to come find you and speak more on the question when I asses the city, and experience it fully." He'd briefly stop, allowing his words to settle in before shrugging "Where are my manners, I completely forgot to introduce myself..." He would say with a cheerful tone "I'm Layton, sir."
