Velryn Acael was born in the Princedom of Caurost in Azuras. He was raised with other elves who were strong and loyal to Caurost. Velryn was born into a very poor family, and he had many siblings. He used to live with his whole family, but as a teenager, his family split apart and he was left with his mom. She was very loyal to the princedom and that was what she valued most. Because of this, Velryn felt a lot of pressure to live up to her and the princedom's expectations. He wanted to be stronger and more decisive, but his whole life he had struggled to accomplish this. Velryn left home at 18, hoping to find a more meaningful place. He's trying to find meaning and some amount of loyalty, but he is also afraid to be sucked too far into devotion.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
Velryn steps into the old shack, trying to figure out where he is. He feels nervous, so he stays standing. He reaches out his hand for a handshake, but the woman doesn't do the same. He swiftly puts his arm down, embarrassed about the situation. The woman stares at him, waiting for an answer. "Oh, sorry. I'm from the Princedom of Caurost. I don't have much reason, honestly. I guess I'm trying to find meaning in my life. I want to become an important person to society. In Caurost, I feel like all I did was let people down," he mutters. He tentatively sits down, still weary of the old lady. Suddenly, he asks, "How do you know who I am?"
