In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: I would just keep my character realistic, fair, and balanced. I won't force any actions, or senarios onto any other person.

I would use words that display a attempt of something instead of definite words that force people into a line of descisions. I would respect everyones wishes. An example I could think of comes from a star wars RP from a different game, while yes not medieval it is still RP. I was a naval engineer during a reactor meltdown, was sent in with a few others to attempt to fix it, keep in mind this was all RP based. How I did it was as follows:

I walked up to the main panel as I was one of the two actually working on the reactor, the other guy was on the secondary pannel. Standing infront of the main control pannel, I crouch and do a /me 'I pull out my screw driver, carefully unscrewing the protective pannel, carefully leaning it against the base of the controls, i put the screw driver away and pull out my flash light as I attempt to find the right wire' Now this is where I do a /roll which is an rng based number roll between 1-100, 10 and below is a critical failure, 50 and below is a failure, 50 and above is a success, 90 and above is critical success. I believe I got somewhere in the 60s, meaning i got a success. Doing another /me 'Finding the right wire, I notice that it is severed. Putting away my flash light in my mouth, I hold the wires together as I turn my head away from the wires and to the other engineer' "Hey, need some help here, can't do this alone." I say as I watch him finish his task and make his way over, he pulls his fusion cutter out and does a easy /me 'Welds the wires together' (while yes I know you don't weld wires together however he rolled high..) he did a /roll and got in the 90s for a critial roll making it hit no matter what.

After his /roll he proceeds to stabluze the reactor and we write a report for either the wiring getting cut or just faltering wires.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Meta-Gaming is when you or someone else acquire information OOC or information your character should not have and use it in game. Meta-gaming disrupts fair role-play because having someone know everything about your character when you just met is the definition of un-fun.

Character Name: Vidarok Greymoor
Character Race: Orc
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 48
Physical Description: Vidarok is a black orc with yellow eyes, grey beard, receding grey hair. He wears leather armor, leather pants, and orangish red paint Hes 7'4, 576 LB
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

(SonOfDTom's is referencing this)

The large man awkwardly ducks to enter the tent, his back hitting the low hanging fabric, causing it to bulge at the top. His elbows clip the tent wall as he turns around, facing the tent entrance. "Me? Strange woman speaks of knowing of arrival?" His words unrefined, his sentence missing several vowels. His body faces away from the woman as he addresses someone outside the tent. Vidarok turns to face the woman as his huge stature slowly moves to the cushion, roughly plopping himself onto it with a hard thump. His large body tenses slightly against the marsh hair drafting in. The person he was talking to walks in the tent, it is a man that is the spitting image of Vidarok if he was at least a decade younger, "This is me child, he be following I everywhere me go, even if I tell to leave. Me here for glory, to return to tribe that outcasted I. To show them I strong and worthy to be in clan. I will gain glory."
