    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is using knowledge that you have but your persona doesn't.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is taking advantage of being able to narrate your persona's story. The two most obvious examples are emoting actions your persona wouldn't be able to do and emoting the actions of other players. It's unfair and not conducive to good roleplay.

Taking his first steps off the boat, Vullen would check his satchel and various pockets to make sure everything was in order. He wouldn't show any signs of hearing the gentlemen besides a cursory glance, and unhurriedly reply, "Perhaps to study, perhaps for the merchants. Not to meet a sanguine local, whose voice is compelling me to walk backwards until I reach my motherland." He'd then make an effort to walk away to avoid further conversation.
