Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
She bows her head slightly at the woman before taking a seat on the cushion. She takes a moment to take a deep breath and straighten out her dress.
“Thank you for the hospitality..”
She fidgets with her hands a bit, a nervous habit of hers but her face remained calm with a slight smile.
“If you're expecting some grand story or a tragedy you’d be rather disappointed with my story”
She pauses and glances at her hands “I grew up in the Heartlands.”
She looks back up “Life was pretty simple. My parents had good enough standing. We weren’t the most wealthy or influential but we were comfortable. I didn’t ever have to worry about food or money. It was quite nice actually. I was really fortunate.”
The fidgeting becomes less frequent as she begins to feel more comfortable. “I did get a bit of an education, I can read and write but I am not the most book smart. I'm pretty average when it comes to that”
She reaches up and touches the locket on her neck “My mother taught me a lot that books couldn’t” She lets go of the locket.
“I spent a lot of my free time at home with her or around the town's edge. I’ve always felt really connected to nature.”
She gestures to the flower in her hair “More specifically flowers have always been my favorite.”
She pauses, it’s apparent on her face that she is thinking. “I think I would be a sprig of lavender or perhaps Amaryllis?” She taps her chin thoughtfully “Lavender represents peace and serenity. Amaryllis represents beauty and determination” Something seems to dawn on her. “Perhaps a bouquet of multiple flowers would represent a person better than just a single flower.”
She suddenly seems flustered, stuttering slightly” “O-oh gosh! I’ve been rambling haven’t I! I am so sorry” She bows her head slightly.
“Let me answer your question, it was what brought me here right?” SHe looked at the woman to make sure she was listening right and didn't mistake her question.
“Well as I got older, I started to long for things. To fulfill my own dreams. I have always wanted to start my own sanctuary for plants. I want to conserve as much nature as I can.” She looks around nervously “That's pretty weird for a human right? More of an elf thing I suppose. Nature is just so much more calming, I can feel its pull almost.” She's talking with her hands mimicking a pulling motion “Don’t get me wrong I love my home but places like forests feel like a second home if that makes sense? I want to do everything I can to preserve that.”
