In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: If you see someone actively powergaming in roleplay, contact moderators from the Discord or forums (If there's certain channels for reporting such players) or if a moderator is in-game attempt to contact them.
If you suspect yourself of powergaming or simply don't want to powergame on accident, consider the actions of your character before doing them. Is it realistic? Think of it in the perspective of your character, would they be able to achieve it? If it's a dangerous stunt, would they be brave (or crazy) enough to go through with it?
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming allows players/characters to gain an unfair advantage over others using knowledge that their character either doesn't know or wouldn't reasonably be able to know, creating an unfair roleplay environment for others.

Character Name: William Lankton
Character Race: Highlander
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 25
Physical Description: William has a scrawny build, being 5'8 and around 120 pounds. His eyes are a light blue, and his hair and beard are ginger. William wears peasant rags
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

William taps his Poulaine shoes on the unstable ground of the tent, giving a nervous smile to the old lady "Me? There isn't much interesting about me, but if you really want to hear it..."
He looks around for something he can sit on, but nothing appealing catches his eye. And so instead he decides to cross his legs and sits down on the tent floor which is thankfully covering most of the muddy outside of the swamp, though some of it still manages to seep in due to the tent's worn out condition and dirties his clothes a smidge.
"Long ago, in a corner of the earth far from this land laid my father and mother, living within the Kingdom of Norland. They were very nomadic, always travelling throughout the Empire in search for work and food. I never truly understood why but over time it grew on me." William takes a moment to look up at the roof of the tent, some of it's holes revealing the beautiful night sky.
"And so i travelled with them for most of my life, all up until i was old enough to go out exploring this vast and amazing Kingdom, and they were too old to continue travelling without it taking a toll on them."
"Finally they decided to settle in a small town, but now it is my responsibility to continue their tradition and maybe even explore the entirety of this Kingdom. But only time will tell"
