Lewis was raised in the Devonshire household from 1735. A wealthy family located outside the Kingdom of Haense, they raised their 6 children in an aristocratic manner, not bothering to teach them the necessities of the world of the commoners. He learned much of the history of the land, and took an immediate hatred to orcs because he heard of their slaughters of Druids in 1561. However, Lewis spent much of his time outside, admiring the quiet beauty of nature rather than the stiff atmosphere of the country house. However, Lewis’s idyllic life was not to be eternal.
The family received word of an impending revolution of farmers. The servants of the house fled in sheer terror, abandoning their masters.
With nowhere left to turn to, the family hastily shoved their children into the decrepit carriage, attached the horses, and had their children flee.
Lewis and 3 of his siblings rode to the border, but their sheltered lives led to their misfortune, as they crossed the border, and arrived at a language border. The children also did not have passports, so they were captured. Clement was taken back to Haense, and Lewis was kidnapped and placed on a ship, where he was forced to sail to the nearest ocean and work as a slave.
Eventually, Lewis earned his freedom and managed to find his way back to Haense, where he heard that his brother was still alive. Seeking a new beginning with the only family he knew of, he is optimistic about his situation.
