TLDR:Grew up on a sheep farm with mom and brother. Mom dies and he goes to big cities to work and send home supplies and money. Ends up in the underbelly of cities bribing and talking his way, and learned to fight with a sword. Returned home and found it ruined. Got his moms old magic tome, and left to find someone that could teach him magic so he can become powerful.
Thareon knew his parents were heartlanders that hailed from Arcas originally, but his mother never told him more than that before she died and he never knew his father. He grew up on a sheep farm east of Talons port in the wild plains with his younger brother. His mother was well educated, and taught her children many subjects. At the age of 15 she revealed a dark and strange tome to Thareon and began to teach him of great and powerful wizards, dark spider cults from Arcas and other powerful beings. However she grew ill and died within weeks, and left Thareon cursing the earth, the sky and the gods for the fate of his mother and the unsure fates of himself and his brother.
Three years passed as he and his brother tried to survive on the homestead, but when it was apparent that what they were doing was not enough, and Thareon left his brother to care for the farm, while went to the capital city of the Holy Orenian Empire to seek work. There he learned of his cunning with people after stealing supplies from smugglers and being caught; he was able to not only talk his way out of trouble with the smugglers, but got to let him join. In the underbelly of cities and ports across Almaris he learned to use honeyed words and pouches of coin to loosen doors and people. He sent a great deal of supplies and money home to his brother, using most of the fortune he'd collected. He also learned to use a blade here though only tested his skill thrice. These three times were because he was caught off guard and was unable to talk his way out or run, as he would prefer the later two fearing injury or death.
After seven years Thareon used the rest of his fortune to make himself disappear as he returned home to his brother and the sheep farm, only to find it ruined and abandoned. For a second time Thareon let himself mourn one of the few people he ever let himself become attached too, and set about seeing to what was left of the homestead. If any of the supplies he sent back had ever made it, it was no longer here, same as his brother. But there was one thing he did find, under the floorboards of the rotting home, in a secure chest he found the strange tome still there. He spent nearly four months there repairing what he could and trying to learn from the tome. With growing frustration, he vowed to himself he would no longer let death and the gods control his fate.
**With a well practiced smile "Grand aspirations sir, though I must admit, not for myself, but for all mankind! "
**The gentleman lets out loud short laugh "Haha so a hero with a bleeding heart! Wonderful! I love to see travelers with your ambition!"
Thareon-"Well ambition or fate, I've yet to make up my mind which holds greater sway over me, but yes."
** Thareon shifts his gaze side to side trying to gain a better reading again of the market port he is in, "As a traveler new to here perhaps you know of work that's available, you look like the sort that could help an adventurer with his grand aspirations?"
**The gentleman scratches his chin with a growing smile when he hears Thareon ask for work, "Why the very reason I approached you my boy!" He gives a flourish signaling to follow "I fingered you for the working man the moment I saw you, and I think I have a job just suited for you!"
**Thareon gives a grunt of approval and nods "By all means lead the way then!" as the gentleman turns the smile partially fades from Thareons face and he adjust a dagger hidden in his tunic just in case... "While we walk, you wouldn't happen to know of any wizards in the city?
The gentleman-"Hmm? oh magic user, uuhh, perhaps it is a big city afterall.....
**They both continue on to the gentlemans destination chatting as Thareon tries to gleam as much as he can about the city.
