Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Elarion surveyed the building and the spot where he was invited to sit with disgust. He noticed distinct clumps of dirt, and the overall atmosphere didn’t appeal to him at all. “I’d rather stand,” he said after a brief pause, then continued, “My name is Elarion, and I’ve decided to embark on a journey across the continent. Your city is my starting point for this adventure. Not all elves would understand my desire and interest, of course. But I genuinely want to see how the lesser races live and compare it to our society. And also, to observe and study how the nature of the continent differs. Reading about it in books is one thing—seeing it with my own eyes is another.”
