In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is misusing information completely out of your character's world in your own favor. Every detail your character doesn't acknowledge but is obtained OOCly cannot be used in your own favor. For example, I get approached by a character and I read his name above his head. Even though I never talked to the character, I cannot just roleplay knowing his name ICly just by obtaining the information OOCly.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming can mean two things, the first one is giving your character powers he realistically would never possess. Second thing is forcing other players to roleplay actions in your character's favor. The first definition can be exampled as roleplaying kicking down a whole tree and expecting others to roleplay it. Nobody would be strong enough to pull a huge tree out. The second definition goes as for example you approach someone with the intention of fighting him, but just so your character is advantaged, you execute them immediately in a single /me line. That wouldn't make any sense, both parties must roleplay their actions properly and realistically.

Born to a single mother, Dugarod didn't acquire enough father figure ever since he's left to make a deal with goblins. His father was part of the Raguk clan. Ever since that happened and Dugarod grew up, he began to fear goblins as they are the reason behind his father's disappearance - which happened after he was launched head-first into a rival army by a machine known as the orc dispenser. Even though his orc acquaintances made fun of him about not having a father, he knew that it's in nature and maturely ignored those comments. He rather focused on himself and developed himself into an advantaged fighter. The thing is, as he rode on several times, he had to leave his mother alone. She did her best to secure some food and other living resources, but the family was almost falling apart. After years and years of training with his simple gear, Dugarod made contact with people of the same interest, though, he avoided being too personal about things he had to go through, and only spoke about things related to becoming a warrior. As Dugarod might sound like the example of a clean and mature fighter, he is actually enjoying a poor lifestyle full of days sat next to a pint of beer, occasional fighting over petty reasons and so on. Dugarod is now trying his best to join the armies and become a strong and helpful warrior. Eventually, he would like to pay his mother another visit and tell her about his journey.

Character Name: Dugarod the Chieftain
Character Race: Orc
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 22
Physical Description: Red orc standing around 7 feet tall, rocking heavy armor alongside an attached sword, with his face painted with white colors.
Roleplay Scenario:

Dugarod the Chieftain walks across the pier, catching gazes with the shiny gear he's got hanging off his muscular orc physique. Just as he's about to enter the settlement, he's approached by a man wearing a simple suit and tie, with a top-hat covering the bald spot on his head. "I'm not lookin to buy any of your shit. Keep that to yourself and move out of my way." he exclaimed in an ignorant manner. Upon hearing the questions, Dugarod hesitates and eventually grunts primitively - dismissing the human out of his way so he can continue towards the nearest arena, eager to compete with this city's fighters.
