Heinrich was always a clever one growing up in the outskirts of Haense. He was the son of a courier, and readily had access to texts and oddities from his father’s dealings in Reza. Constantly occupied with his books and contraptions, the young man preferred to keep his distance from the other villagers. He shared a particular love of legends and mythology, spending countless nights reading about the escapades of heroic figures.
This love of fantasy would lead him to who would soon become his best friend, Dag. The two would become inseparable throughout their teens. Growing up in the village wasn’t easy, the settlement’s economy slumping in the aftermath of The Two Troubles. Even so, the duo made the most of it.
Despite his potential, Heinrich grew to be a layabout with a particular aversion to any form of real work. His best friend Dag, however, quickly secured a profitable career as a weapon smith for the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. Jealousy would begin to fill Heinrich’s heart as the two steadily drifted apart.
Things would reach a boiling point when his former friend ascended to the status of a local hero. Dag single-handedly saved a young woman from a group of armed brigands, becoming celebrated throughout the region. Heinrich’s hatred would grow with the shadow that his former best friend casted over him.
A week later Heinrich would storm out of the village in a fit of frustration, taking the family armor with him. He vowed he would achieve fame and fortune, regardless of what...or who...got in his way.

You’ve just stepped off of the boat in the port of a massive and fortified city. Before you lies a sprawling bazaar, with numerous shops, stalls, and seated traders selling wares to folk of all walks of life. Just as you’re about to continue walking onwards, into the market, you’re approached by a well-dressed gentleman who looks upon you with a big smile. “Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”
How do you respond?
Heinrich leered at the gentleman with suspicion, looking the man up and down as he blustered, “Whatever it is you plan on selling me, I’m not buying! I’ve been pestered by pan-handlers all afternoon an-“. The man suddenly tenses up as though overtaken with a realization. Quickly leaning in to the gentleman’s ear, he hisses through his visor, “Lets talk somewhere a bit more...discrete..”
