The Life of Kovread Whitfall
Kovread was born into a semi-poor family as a hybrid between his Mother (A Heartlander) who was a librarian, and his Father, Kiblo Silvervein (A Mountain Dwarf) who was a blacksmith belonging to the Silvervein clan. He was born in the Great Kingdom of Urguan. He didn't have many friends as nobody could relate to always wanting to make things, although he had one friend, Hilbert, who always took his side. He frequently helped his father out with the blacksmithing by either heating up metal or prepping tools, it would be strange to find him not tinkering in some kind of way. His father used magic to help with his job and he was always astonished. His mother would always sneak back books for him to read, mostly to do with tinkering. But in the midst of the Battle of Ostradt, the noble Gustaven von Halsfield set a unobtainable quota for weapons to be made in such little time, his father couldn't reach the quota and was promptly arrested by the guards. He didn't resist and on the way out he just smiled at Kovread as to say "I'll be back." Shortly after his father's arrest, his mother got scared she would be next and fled far away, leaving Kovread all on his own.
Kovread is now 21, he left Uruguan and his friend Hilbert and now travels around looking for places to finally settle down, he vigorously exercises everyday. He has honed his blacksmithing skills and is in pursuit of setting up shop. From the books he read all those years ago, he loved the story about "The Magnum Opus", and wishes one day he will be strong enough to conjure one.
You’ve just stepped off of the boat in the port of a massive and fortified city. Before you lies a sprawling bazaar, with numerous shops, stalls, and seated traders selling wares to folk of all walks of life. Just as you’re about to continue walking onwards, into the market, you’re approached by a well-dressed gentleman who looks upon you with a big smile. “Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”
How do you respond?
*He jerks his head back as the man startled him, with his pride at stake he play it off the best he could.
"Ah, thanks for welcoming me! I was just wandering around looking for settlements where I can set up shop and hopefully make a mechanical discovery. You seem rather well dressed for someone welcoming people to a city, how do you make your funds?"
