Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"Ah, okay." He sits on the cushion, observing his surroundings. "Before I say anything, could you tell me how you knew I would arrive here?"
While he waited for an answer, he reflected on his life thus far. Lenniel had a pretty average childhood for an elf, he grew up in Nevaehlen with his mother and sister, and he was close to both. He was a descendant of The Eagle Bloodline and was a member of the songbird seed. He often painted in his spare time.
He started training with a bow at the age of 14, and while he is definitely not the most skilled elf, he can shoot a bow fairly well. At that same age, he also started training with a sword, which he is more skilled with and would choose over a bow in most scenarios. Because of this and the fact that his father was unknown he was often ridiculed and accused of being a hybrid (the scar across his face came from a time when the bullying got out of hand).
Once he turned 20, he decided to leave Nevaehlen and travel in search of amusement. He was bored of his hometown and wanted to experience the life of a wanderer to see if he liked it any better. He is a self serving man, not caring much for others with the exception of his mother and sister.
When the hag responded, Lenniel snapped back to reality, he had nearly forgotten the reason he was thinking about his life in the first place. "That doesn't matter, young Lenniel. Please, tell me about yourself."
Lenniel was startled and suspicious when she referred to him by name. "How did you know my name?"
She chuckles, "Again, how I know these things doesn't matter."
Lenniel's suspicion increased. Just who was this hag, how does she know these things, and why does she want his story? He decided to answer her question as vaguely as he could. "I grew up in Nevaehlen and grew bored so I decided to travel. What does it matter to you?"
