Evren Al-Amin (Turkish, 'Universe; The Truthful') is a man of color. Growing up in a nowhere oasis village in the desert, he was enthralled by the colorful silks and dyes carried by those passing through town. Every so often a more kindly merchant would give him a little scoop of pigment, and Evren would stretch every speck to its fullest potential- Mixing, matching, diluting, anything he could do with the color, he would, dying scraps of cotton and silk to hold his colors forever. Through laboring as a teenager, he was able to amass enough money to properly buy pigment for his personal use, dying first his own clothes to his eye of perfection, then offering his services- at a very reasonable price- to his neighbors, breathing life and light into his little, otherwise sand-colored town. Once every last garment had been treated, his calling at home completed, Evren set out to the rest of the world, seeking new pigments, fabrics, and techniques for his pursuit of color. Next stop? Sutica.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
